Thank you. I read the forum every day, but do not post often. I want to know, tooo! We shall see! There is so much pain in theis wolrd, hopefully, with the help of the forum and Father Nature we can help a couple more fuzzbutts. One step at a time, right? Actually, me and some friends just came back from there with 2 lol.. Everytime we go there SOMEONE comes home with ferrets lol

There is most likely a shelter/rescue in your area that could use a hand or small donation. I am sure Father Nature would agree that it is the support and donations from his fellow Ferret lovers that allow he and Evelyn to do thier work month after month. Lending a hand on cage cleaning day or nail clipping day would be welcomed by anyone who ran a shelter. Just a thought.

You are so right. Every day ferret shelters and rescues are forced to close their doors due to lack of help. Several in our area have shut down within the past year alone. There are still folks out there that think those that run rescues are doing it at a profit or are independently wealthy. I have been asked if we make a good living running a rescue. It's hard to not break out laughing, as I work whatever overtime is available at my real job to make the bills every month. Just to process 1 healthy fuzzy through Father Natures costs $65.00, and that is for just basic shots, ADV test and a check-up. That does not include the countless adrenal surgeries that come in every year along with other surgeries like tumors, blockages and exploratory. We can not charge adoption fees because of the permit we have and many times adoption donations don't cover the costs. I am sure that there are shelters all over the US that are in need of donations and something as simple as help with cage cleaning or even just help with socializing abandoned fuzzies. We will continue to help as many fuzzies as possible till the well runs dry...

And don't forget Ear Mites!!! It cost us $30 for enough Revolution to cover our three (lucky that Izzy's a peanut). FN just got in a GROUP of SIX. And wouldn't you know it, Ear Mites!!! So yeah... the $$$'s do add up quick. That's just ONE of the reasons that our (Kristi and myself) "fert #" is Three.
Later, Matt K.

Yeah.. I'd love the bedding set, but thing is, since our cage isn't stanard (its a converted cabinet) the stuff wouldn't work. My sister said our two goals should be the first aid kit and Blondie's bag.

That's a shame Ketlin- is there anyway you could screw in tiny hooks to the top of the cabinet so you can hang "traditional" bedding?

Thats what we did for the sleep in hammock we made for them. I might just put some tickets towards it.. Because we do plan on getting another cage at some point. I hate drilling into the cage but it really breaks my heart because they've never had an actual hammock in that cage aside from the small sleep in one. They only get hammocks when we travel for the travel cage. -~Ketlin

saplantlady, I would love to find a ferret shelter in my area. The only thing I have come up with is some old internet information on a place in Naples NY. Its about a four hour drive for me. Does anyone even know if this one is still open?
The local Humane Society is a killing shelter that does mostly cats and dogs. 4 years ago I adopted my dog from them.
If any of you have, or run across a group in the Upstate NY area, Please let me know!

Theres a Ferret Club run out of Rochester and they "help a shelter" but I dont know what one that is.. And theres one out in Waterloo.. Your best bet is to go to petfinder.com and search for ferrets in NY state and see where you get.
