As you all know, I have been a member of this forum for many years and a Moderator for a good number of those, and have seen many members come and go over that time. The problem is, now we seem to have lost all the members who actually post, and the forum seems to be as good as dead now, as no-one, new or old, seems to be posting anymore.
I have seen several posts in the Rainbow bridge, which have not had any replies, one of which was very dear to me, and this is just such a terrible shame, and shows just how little the current members care.
The problem is, I am seeing new members join up, and ask questions, which never get answers, and even when a thread does get a reply, it rarely exceeds 3, which means people are then giving up and going elsewhere to get the information they need.
Basically, this is a "Use it or loose it" message, as I can not see the point of letting new people join up and then find that they are apparently ignored. If you are all off somewhere else, then fine, again, if that is the case, you do not need this one anymore.
Please let me know how you feel about this, as I would like to know what to do for the best.

Hello Clive, Im sorry to hear about the Forum. Its been close to three years since Iv checked in but I got beat up kinda bad on this forum and just moved on. No need being someplace I'm not wanted. It's been so long that I had forgot what my S/N was. It would be a shame to lose this forum. This forum is where I learned 90% of what I needed to know on how to raise ferrets. It was a very useful forum when needed until the politics started. Im sad to say that for health reasons I was forced to find good homes for my 6 ferrets and I do miss them everyday. I still play with vintage cars and just sold 5 of them. I hope things turn out good for you for the ferrets sake.

Oh, Before I forget Clive, I started some of the Ferret games at my summer place a few year back that you showed me that you guys have in the UK. It's really started showing interest and is still growing. Even though I cant live with a ferret anymore I still help with the games. Thanks

*rubs the back of her neck* I still try to pop in now and again, but more often than not there aren't many actual new threads that aren't Bridge related. I always try to look and see what New Topics have popped up, so if someone new comes along and posts something they can get a reply, so they ARENT left hanging... but I haven't seen anything like that in the last couple of months or so...
I know we lost a bunch of people when they lost the last of their crew, like Tied. I've still got my remaining four boogers, but theres never really anything new to report short of health problems and litter box troubles but I don't want to always be posting THAT (mostly the health part). And beyond that, its my canine crew... but since this is a ferret forum, I try not to constantly post about them either even though they get into more trouble than my ferrets do.. but with as many dogs as I have, that's no real surprise.
I miss posting here, I truly do. I miss everyone here. I don't actually have any other ferret boards I go to. I dont want to see this board disappear, but it got so quiet after a while that I kinda just gave up...

I got the email but didn't follow the link (you know how spam is nowadays). I haven't been here in forever and had to recover my password!
I think a good chunk of the people use Facebook. I'm guilty as charged - only so many hours in the day and my day is filled with taking care of ferrets (and hubby). I wish I remembered to come here more often.

This was one of the first forums i joined. I had been checking a couple times a week and posted in the shout box. I havent checked in this week because ive been busy prepping to take our 9 you read that right on vacation. Im still active on a couple ither forums but i do miss the group here. Ill keep checkin In And ill post some holiday pics this weekend if able or next week if not. Id love to share lola with anyone who is interested. I was a mod on 2 other forums that died. I tried to revive one with very little response. I just cant get into facebook so i cling to the forums. We're supposed to meet up with some forum friends on sunday ...

I will admit I'm a lurker. I check several times a week, answer questions if I can (if they are posted), and avoid death posts because I like to pretend that sort of thing doesn't happen in my little pretend world even though it happens in my real world. Escapism is my friend.
I'd like to help revive things as this board has been a huge help over the years, but with nothing happening and my lack of ferret master mojo, I'm not sure what I can do.

I want to spend time here, I'm just swamped. I have to work, I have to take care of my fuzzies, and it seems like there's always some crisis or other stealing my free time.
Also, the archived threads probably have a lot of really useful information that I'd like to copy, I just haven't had time to sort through all of them.
I don't mind it if people don't reply to my posts. I actually need some medical advice at the moment and put up a post, but it's not a critical situation. If it was critical, I'd call my vet.
As for the Rainbow Bridge posts, I do care, I'm just always nervous that I might say the wrong thing and make someone feel worse. I don't want to do that, so I tend to avoid posting at all.

I'm so sorry Clive. I haven't been as active in recent years. Life tends to get in the way. I think the forum is still a good place for info for new ferret people and would hate to see that info become unavailable to them. I do promote the forum to people I meet that have ferrets and will continue to despite the issues. We lost our last girl a few months ago and really appreciate all the help over the years. You yourself have been a source of may laughs and tears over the years and have been missed by my lack of communication. I wish you all the best and will TRY to become a presence again despite LIFE!
Love, hugs, and fuzzies!

Well it's good to see there are still some people still out there. When the forum first started, it was not all about ferrets, and a lot of people just posted up information about their day to day life, so you don't have to post just ferret stuff on here. With regards to the Rainbow bridge, I can see where a lot of you are coming from, but even a simple "sad" emoticon at least lets the owner know you read the post, and acknowledge how they are feeling. As has been said many times, it is only other ferret owners who really appreciate just how much these guys affect our lives, and just how hard it is to loose one, let alone the 5 we have lost this year, or 9 Raml has lost. So, lets see how things go, and get a few more posts on here, make the place somewhere you look forward to checking into...

Well, I just tend to work, game, and take care of my furry army. I'm not as big into forums as I used to be but I can still try and stop by.

Well I for one am one of those people who joined hoping I had found the perfect forum for good advice and to make new friends. The only reason I am replying to this now is because I had an email to come here and read the message. At the time I joined I posted a message introducing myself and I believe I had a question also though I can't remember because this occurred MONTHS ago and I never received a reply from anyone. There was nothing to indicate my post was ever seen. Also though I registered my name is not listed under members. I found this experience very disappointing and have not been been back since figuring at that time the site was a "dead" one and/or poorly maintained.

Hey Mom23, I checked and you actualy didn't post anything. You did put out a shout.
mom23: Hi all, ferret mom to 3 and was looking for a place to make friends with fellow ferret people and their fuzz butts. I have 3 fur kids; Iggy ( who has Wardensburg syndrome and is completly deaf), Dweezle ( my big boy ) and Ed who is partially deaf and has a Apr 16, 2014 at 7:25pm mom23: a birth defect r/t Wardensburg Apr 16, 2014 at 7:28pm Potato: Welcome to the forum! Its best to make a new thread in the introductions rather than down here in the box. Not everyone will see it. Apr 17, 2014 at 6:05pm unclejoe: Hi mom 23. Apr 18, 2014 at 4:00pm pat: Hi May 3, 2014 at 9:36pm

And I do see you listed in the members section as well.

Guh... thanks to voob pointing it out, I looked and there is another newbie post there. I tend not to look there either usually when I pop in, I look for new posts in the board itself via the New Topics. Mayhaps it would be better to remove the shout box, Clive?

Good point, it does not show up when you access via Tapatalk, so I only see it if/when I scroll down on the laptop, but then tend to be busy sorting other bits out. When I am on the laptop next I will look into removing it. sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.

As you may have noticed, I have now removed the Shoutbox, so that should stop any future confusion for new members. Hi, im sorry but im not entirley sure what to type. Unfourtenly my spelling sucks for one, and two that tends to happen i guess. I try not to answer on things i know nothing about in fear ill make it worse, but try to avoid ignoring people. Im not sure about others though. Most people do not have a problem with spelling, we are after all, ferret owners, not grade A English literature fanatics, so don't worry about that. Punctuation is the only possible problem, as without that, it can be very hard to make sense of what is written. We did have one person on a forum I was on, who just wrote everything as one long paragraph, all in upper case, and not one commer, or false stop, which ended up with everyone just ignoring his posts, as no one could work them out. I am dyslexic, so often, when I go back and re-read something I have written a while later, I can not believe some of the mistakes, as I was sure after reading, re-reading, and then reading again, just to be safe, that the post was perfect... Wrong... Anyway, please feel free to post, as I said, even if it in just using one of the emoticons just to show you empathise, or thought the post was cute, or funny. You will be supprised how much you do know about Ferrets, and often some people will got bogged down, looking at the worst case scenario, only for someone who has less experience, to say something simple, which turns out to be the answer all along, so never think you have nothing to say. Besides, even if you do say something wrong, someone else will correct you, and everyone learns, which can only be good. The only posts I leave entirely for other people are ones that involve some form of product, as I am in the UK, and many of the products you guys have in the States just do not exist over here, and vis-a-versa of course.

I, like many others, has had life (school, kids, work, fuzzies, etc.) get in the way of online time. I have had many wonderful experiences from this forum, but I just don't have the time I used to. I will try to pop in more often as time allows. It would be a shame to have the forum close down.

Hi Clive and everyone.... I brought it up to UncleJoe about having another forum over on facebook since it seems everyone is over there.... I've been going through a lot with my back injury and been stressed to no end. So I'll post that over on the other thread.... and I'll tell Nicole to get her butt in here too....

I don't like the fact that everything you post on facebook becomes their property and you can't find anything without scrolling for ever. I had to join to connect with my classmates, but we started an account without using our real names. I could easily live without facebucket
