I don't like the fact that everything you post on facebook becomes their property and you can't find anything without scrolling for ever. I had to join to connect with my classmates, but we started an account without using our real names. I could easily live without facebucket Thats the problem, there is no way to search back, so it's useles for looking at how thins were solved in the past. Not only that, but being unmodorated, I was disgusted at some of the replys I have seen, when people have showed it to me.

The only reason I touch facebook with a 10 ft pole is because my work has a page, and if I don't update periodically.... no one will. The extent of my knowledge is posting status updates, that's it. But my boss keeps saying "go do [this]!" and I keep going "I hate facebook, I don't mess with it.. I DONT KNOW HOW". He laughs and 5 minutes later in the SAME convo will ask me to go that same thing again.

Hi All,
I doubt any will remember me, but I am one of the original administrators of the site. I'm Crystal's husband and helped her develop this site back in the early days (circa 2005-2006) when we adopted our first ferrets Gin & Tonic. We grew that family to include at most 6 ferrets, all of which have since passed. We now have a non-furball family of our own (two boys; 4 and 3) and haven't had a ferret for some time now since they've passed, and we have no plans on rescuing more as my allergies to them had become a health issue, as they were causing me to have asthma attacks in my home. Crystal handed the reins of administration over long ago when it was time for her to move on.
We enjoyed our time with our ferrets while we had them and loved playing with them so very much. Crystal was very devoted to them and her craft (making ferret bedding, which was the inspiration for the name of the forum). This allowed her to foray into a different field (photography). You may remember or have access to all the pictures she took. Photography has always been a central part of her life and she has been very successful into parlaying her skills into a successful small business that is growing every year.
If it weren't for ferretology, I don't think Crystal would have grown to where she is today and I wanted to let you guys know that caring for ferrets is a rewarding experience, and whether its temporary or forever, people can only benefit from the experience. We were childless when we had ferrets, so they were our kids during that time. In a way, they prepared us for the road ahead. Running a ferret-related business helped her develop the experience she would need years later when she started her small business.
I encourage you all to keep communicating with each other and to help the admin(s) to maintain relevancy by promoting the website and its benefits. When/if you go to ferret conventions, spread the word. Add the URL to your business cards. It takes people to keep a good thing going!
I wish you all the luck and future enjoyment.
-Damien

The Amaerican Ferret Assn page is moderated, but it's still facebook, so still unsearchable. I've seen nasty comments posted on youtube too, so I don't post videos there either.

I know its been a while since I've been on, but I'm back! It does indeed look like its fairly dead around here lately, and way too many familiar faces on the rainbow bridge board... seems like we've all had a rough couple years, huh?

Yeah but when you have lots of ferrets you lose lots of ferrets over time. Welcome back

I don't know how you all are able to do it, but then again I understand... These fuzzies just complete us. We've last 5 in the last year and a half... It's been rough, but we have decided we love fuzzies and don't want to go without them. We're gonna give Jude everything we can for the time he has left.... Hopefully longer than we think. Then we'll see about rescuing a couple. Fuzzies just capture your heart, and for all their health problems, they make it so worth it over the years... Even if it never gets easier to say goodbye in the end.

I'm sorry I'm late getting to the party. I do check in from time to time but honestly don't recognize a lot of the names here and to be honest - I've been kind of down in the dumps. Both husband and I have been dealing with losing our jobs (thankfully he found one) which in turn has led to financial issues.
Also I can't really call myself the Crazyferretlady anymore. I am down to one - which I inherited from my daughter when she moved out in March - Clyde. Last month, on Oct 20th - we finally had to put Bella down. She was the first ferret we ever got - she was 8 years 3 months when we finally put her down. It was incredibly sad. The weekend before I had Matt's three for an overnight visit and thought about getting another but I don't want to get into an endless cycle. So Clyde is a lone ferret and sleeps with one of Bella's stuffed ferret toys. I thought of giving her up to Matt - who lost Izzy in June - but I love the little bugger too much. Besides he plays more with humans and the dogs than he ever did with Pumpkin and Bella because they were so much older then him.
Anyway - I did find this forum extremely useful and helpful when I had a lot of ferrets. You do a great job with it Clive and I do think the world needs it. I'm just not sure how to promote it more.

Hi all, Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. Sunshine is doing well. There only a few toys she will play with. I will be checking out Amazon later today. Does anyone know if ferrets sleep more when seasons change? Sunshine does with all 4 seasons. Is this normal? She sleeps more than normal for a while and then she goes back to "her normal schedule " She is 5 years old. I live in the U.S. Hope everyone has a good day. Bye for now.
