Hi my name is Dawn from Albuquerque New Mexico. I have had ferrets for a long time. 2 I got from a shelter, and they were abused. Now they are very lovable and trusting and my best friends. Sadly one of my ferrets bubba died last week. Why not go back to the shelter and get a ferret from there?

This is Susie Lee with The Ferret & Dove Sanctuary in Pensacola, Florida.
Very often ferrets are turned in to shelters with a history of having been abused and-or neglected. Last year we got a total of 14 different ferrets from five different police drug-bust raids and one was so badly abused by the former druggie owners that he only lived for one day, unable to survive the bad internal injuries. All the others from these raids, turned in by our brave and wonderful "Animal Cops"!, survived, recovered and were eventually all adopted out to MUCH more responsible folks.
So if you don't want to return to the same shelter where you'd adopted your original ferrets, believe me, try the next-nearer ones. Every ferret shelter is currently bursting at their seams with turned-in ferrets, and every ferret deserves a decent and responsible home.
