OMG she is ADORABLE!!! If you were closer I would sooo beg you to let me adopt her. If I could have chosen a baby she is exactly what I would have picked.

I often wonder if people are really allergic to their animals or if they just use that excuse when dumping an animal. What do you think? I would make my hubby get allergy shots if possible if he had ever been allergic to our animals.

oh my, oh my!!! What a cutie!!! Where are you located in Austin? I live in Houston and was thinking about getting a buddy for my ferret. He is about 2 years old and very shy and quite. I tried to contact a ferret rescue here in Houston, bu they would not return my emails.

I know the director, her name is Dana.

That's the one. I emailed them twice (it's the best way of communication for me during the day). I told them the same story asking if it's possible to stop by with my fuzzy. Nothing so far. But I also noticed there ferrets in our SPCA, i think I will go there to check it out.

lol, she's full of herself too. I have another young ferret that came in last week, 7 months old, also an owner surrender. I can't wait to introduce the two of them. They both go in for shots this week. Of course this one cant' get a rabies or ADV test yet but she'll at least get an overall check up and a distemper.
Apparently the former owner's husband has asthma, and couldn't handle the ferret being around. I have asthma as well but animal fur and dander doesn't bother me.

I would make my hubby get allergy shots if possible if he had ever been allergic to our animals. They don't really work that way. I get 2 shots every week for nearly 2 years now and have yet to see an improvement. The way they work is they slowly build up your immune system. My first round took me 5 years to complete. Now their back, luckily only to everything but animals but it really is very painful, uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous to be around the thing you are allergic to. So, in some cases it really is a valid excuse. There are "levels" of allergies, 1-4 (or at least thats what my Dr uses I dont know if its the same everywhere). For instance my dust allergy is classified as a 3, its dangerous for me to be around dust (I'm talking hives, uncontrollable sneezing, hard time breathing) but for someone with say a 1 to ferrets its really not AWFUL but it all depends on what that person is willing to sacrifice for their pet.

GOSH! I wish I was closer, I'm in VA and Austin is 1300 miles from me. We've been looking for another fuzzbutt but we haven't found one. There is a shelter 1/2 a mile a away but they really wouldn't allow it because we have 3 hounds that aren't UTD on distemper shots. And I don't want them to be after a horrible vaccinosis scare with them.

Thanks for the info. My husband has a lot of allergies but luckily our pets don't affect him. My pediatrician actually said that growing up around animals is a great way to build up your child's immune system. As far as my hubby... If he did have a health issue and shots were required I'd still ask him to try them. I figure that after me being pregnant with each of his kids for over nine months and one of the epidurals not working that he owes me big time.

She was too cute for me to resist. I sent Connie an adoption application and if she approves I hope to have this cute little girl living at our house soon. My hubby will be home from Del Rio tonight and I can't wait to show him her photos. If he gives me any grief (he better not) I'll threaten to give everyone on TLH his cell number so he can have some sense talked into him.

oh, no, there are so many things you could use to get what you want..LOL.. My husband for instance told me NO when I saw salem.. (our 8th)..lol.. "Dont even ask, I see it in your face the answer is NO"... lol.. the answer was no the whole way home, and all the next day.. THEN, that night, at about 11:30pm, I said, "You know.. you have been on the computer since 5:30am this morning playing that game.... a lot of lost work for me.. and I didnt say ONE thing all day to you about it... I think I deserve a nice thank you gift. He responds "why do I feel like Im being set up here". Of course I fluttered my lashes a bit.. and well, Salem has been home now for some time and doing great...LOL.. Trust me, there are things our husbands do that we can use against them.. and visa versa for the guys Im sure...LOL.. I know, I know, Im terrible...

I would make my hubby get allergy shots if possible if he had ever been allergic to our animals. I had an allergic reaction to the bedding the pet store was using, before I got the ones from the rescue that I have now. It's that care fresh stuff. When I told them, they said, "oh, I've heard of that before".....then why use it for the fuzzies? She is very cute btw!
