JUst wanted to post an invite to our first meeting of the year. Below is the email that went out: (Ohio Rescue topic)
Happy New Year everyone!!!
All of us at SAFE hope you, your family and your fuzzies had a magical holiday season and a positive start to 2008. SAFE had a busy holiday season. In between taking care of our existing shelter ferrets, bringing in new babies who needed our help, and working on the controversial animal control situation here in San Antonio, our Board of Directors found time to get together to plan out our meeting schedule for 2008, starting with the January general membership meeting coming up this Sunday.
Our guest speaker is none other than SAFE’s own Vice President, Debby Osburne. In September of last year, 700 ferrets were surrendered by a rather notorious breeder to a shelter in Ohio. The ferret community rallied together to provide support for the beleaguered shelter, and Debby and her husband, Gary, were no exception. They gassed up their RV and went from state to state collecting supplies, cages and bedding from people who wanted to help. When they arrived in Ohio at the shelter, though, things were far from what they expected. Debby has agreed to share her experiences and photos with us, making this a meeting you won’t want to miss! Oh, by the way, bring tissues.
