There are two ferrets in the Scranton, PA area on CL, and one has hair loss without medical attention. I let the owner know that he should take them to a ferret shelter or experienced ferret owner, and instead, he relisted them and said they need to be taken this weekend. What can we do?

Yeah, I emailed that same guy yesterday about the hair loss being adrenal. I also suggested a ferret shelter but all he said was "thanks very much". Nothing else

Although I just noticed in todays post he has them as "free" and doesn't mention the hair loss...

That's what he said to me too! They're free now, but I can't make it in this weekend...

I asked him if he could wait until next weekend, and I would pick them up. There's a good 100 mile ride there. LoL If I get them, is there anyone who is interested in them? I really can't keep them, but I don't want to see the adrenal one suffer. Let me know.

You'll all be glad to know that the irony of the situation is that they're email identity is petsrgreat2. If they're so great, why cast aside, huh? I asked them if I could either pick them up next weekend, or they could transport them to my aunt's house, and they said they'd get back to me.

Keep me informed if any rescues are able to take them in - I'd like to send a donation.
And also its a great job you are doing trying to get these guys safe.

Thank you. I'm glad you're supporting me! I'm going to research some shelters this weekend in case I get them!

Dare I even ask what he is asking for a fee? ? He had said "make me an offer"...what really struck me about the post was this part "The albino has some back end hair loss ,not sure why. He has since I rescued him from his last home. It is not anything contagious as my cinnamon male didn't catch it. And the hair does grow back." ugh! I mean in the very least you could google ferret hair loss!!! P.S. I could help by possibly picking them up but I'm ferret sitting and have no room for them and really cant keep them...

That would be awesome... I'm still looking into the whole thing. I don't know if he got flagged or someone came for the animals... I have to email him again.

Theyre gone... Given to someone who lived close by thus eliminating any responsibility for the last owner to have to deal with.

I would hope, but I doubt it. Call me a pessimist, but it's most likely they went to a home that didn't do their research and don't know he's sick. One could hope things are different...
