After reading a few posts under Fathernature's Raffle thread I figured I would start a separate thread to post my rather lengthy feelings and not stray off the original topic. After joining TLH (thank you Jesi!!!!) I have learned so much and met 2 wonderful people Keith and Evelyn. Not only have they given me knowledge but I have truly seen what is entailed with rescue. I immediately knew I wanted to help all I could whether it be monetary, time or just a shoulder to lean on. I have learned the costs of rescue (medical, food, bedding, etc.) and can only imagine how much of the expenses are completely out of pocket. Now I no longer use any term that makes me feel helpless - all I think is how much can I give right now and how much after next paycheck (without avoiding my own personal bills) then I'm off to paypal. For every dollar that I send means they can save another fuzzy and get him/her the care and forever home they desperately need. I can only wish everyone that surrenders or adopts from a rescue would realize how much every dollar means and make sure they help all they can. Every ferret adopted from a rescue costs a small fortune (and extremely devoted and exhausted people) to be healthy and happy. Holly Girl's surgery/aftercare alone probably exceeded $600 and is now a fluffy, chubby member of the family and my sincere appreciation goes to Keith & Evelyn for taking such good care of her. To all the rescuers out there THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!! And to my wonderful friends Keith & Evelyn I have nothing but love and admiration for you both!!!

After Keith took LD I immediately started sending anything I could down.. I knew if he needed to have surgery, or if he was going to weekly vet appts. he was gonna be one expensive little furball.. And now with what he did for Kiara (which I know was a pretty penny).. Me, Damon and Jen are already planning our next donations to the shelter as long as everything works out right..

I pick up items that the rescue can use (litter pans, etc) as well as when I go to Joanne's Fabricss, stock up one clearance fleece. Some for me, & some for the girl at the rescue I got three of my kids from. She makes bedding & sells it for funds to pay for vet bills, food etc. I also watch garage sales for anything she can use, like pet carriers. It's not much, but I know it helps.

I think thats great!!! I am absolutely clueless when it comes to a sewing machine so I enlist the help of Saplantlady (Jesi) and Angie to put things together for the shelters and rescues. They always go above and beyond plus add extras!!!

Yes they do! At some point, I might go pick up a basic sewing machine, but in the meantime, I may start on some no sew bedding. I had just started on some, & then started class, so it got put on a back burner. I just picked up some more clearance fleece today. =) I just picked up remants today. I found a small piece of UW fabric, which since I grew up in Spokane & cheer for WSU, I will definitely be givign that to Lacey to use. My hubby said, "Why don't you use it?" I said, "There will be no UW fabric in that cage!" LOL

This is for everyone who has ever rescued or run a rescue, but for one rescuer in particular, who's work pulls at my heart strings.....which is odd, because i'm a pretty cold person, just ask my friends. sorry for the length.....i just kind of kept going.
i have chosen to make my income via retail. so i have the pleasure of handling humans all day, and particularly rude and obnoxious ones. I had honestly thought that all of the good people have disappeared, i mean the truly kind people that are willing to go above and beyond to help someone. i have met and helped many people with many problems, but it seems that the more you help the more you get dumped on. The more you get dumped on the harder life is to manage, and you are stuck being miserable and unable to help yourself, let alone anyone else.
I personally hate it when anyone helps me with anything or gives me anything, but i love helping people, it's like a rush when you know that you helped someone or saved something, and i hate it when people deny my help but understand because of pride and i am the same way. I rarely accept help but when i do, i accept it because i know there is nowhere else i can turn or i honestly can't say no because the person is so kind that i couldn't say no, knowing they are simply doing what they feel is truly right.
Father and Mother Nature have restored my feeling that there are a few good people left, as they are the latter of the above stated. I honestly could not deal with people with the calm and level head that Keith does and i give him all the respect i could give another person. Since i have met him i try and keep my calm. at work i get frustrated because of humans ignorance, he deals with humanity's inhumanity and brushes it aside. he is there for the sake of the fuzzies and does not raise a voice or a hand to them, and that is something i could not do.
They help because they want to, there will be no great ceremonies in their honor or any ribbons pinned on their chests. They don't expect anyone to have a parade in their honor or raise a statue to remember them or their work. They do what they do because they want to and everytime they save someone or make a small family a little larger his eyes light up when he grabs the camera and says, "Get together, i need a picture of the new family."
And you can see his pure heart in the eyes of his ferret math victims that he takes the picture of.
Keith and Evelyn are two people that i know i could not be like but wish i could, their hearts are the largest i've ever seen and they have personally touched me and my family has grown since meeting them. I wish there was more i could do to help out but if i were to do what i want i would break myself as many of us feel the same way. The only thing i have to give is my support and my thanks.
Keith you are a great person and please don't ever stop doing what you're doing. Thank You

I hear that - I don't think I could ever deal with the sort of people they have to every day. Actually I think Keith makes it a point to keep me out if he has a surrender coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hmmm wonder if hes afraid I'll give one of them a punch in the nose They simply are amazing people - them and all the rescuers that I've had the pleasure of meeting on TLH

Well said...I could never find enough words to say in full how very much I admire these two compassionate and wonderful people. They are both amazing in their own way.
