Most ferrets available on here come about from Craigslist, so if you are comfortable with that website, I suggest you keep trying. I admire your desire to adopt rather than buy.

why not try boward: here's a thread with links to available adoptable ferrets. I am sure the shelter can direct you to another one closer to you, if they are not within traveling distance.
