He couldn't answer to me whether the mass was a foreign mass or a tumor of some sort... after asking a million times, he kept saying that the ferret was going to die. I told him that if he wanted, he could surrender him to someone that could help... Finally convinced him to take him back to the vet.

Have you heard anything? I know several vets near Allentown.

I haven't heard anything yet. He took him back to the vet that he was orginally at. He was hysterical and wouldn't answer a lot of my questions, but I got the feeling that his vet didn't keep him well informed of what exactly was wrong with the ferret. The vet just told him that the ferret had "a mass" and gave him pred for it. I would like to know some suggestions for a really good ferret vet though. I live in the Reading area, maybe 45 min from Atown.

So sorry to hear that. When I tried to reply to the Craigslist post it already had been deleted by the author. Possibly the fuzzy was on pred for insulinoma and he crashed. My vet in Allentown is Allentown Animal Clinic on Walbert Avenue. Dr. Judith Rutkowski in particular is very experienced in ferrets, she has been treating my ferrets for 20+ years. My Jake was on pred for insulinoma, and he lived for well over a year after being diagnosed.
I know other ferret owners who use Allentown Animal Clinic as their vet.

Tiedyed, if you find a good one local let me know. I was just at the league dropping off feline id and there was a woman there from Douglassville. She says they see them there but they don't do shots. They had a patient who had a bad reaction??? I'd like a vet that knows all the issues (God forbid), but will also be able to do testing and vaccines.

It is common for ferrets to have a reaction to shots- particularly distemper... I heard that Silver Maple in Kutztown is good. There used to be a ferret rescue in Fleetwood (or maybe still is) and they took their ferrets there. I haven't heard any other info on them. Otherwise I don't know. I'm going to check out VCA in Sinking Spring, probably, and there's some clinic less than a mile from my house- although I don't think they prob do ferrets... who knows, right?
