Does anyone know or recommend any Phoenix base shelters/rescues? I have found very few near me that will even consider adopting to me (since I will be a first time ferret mom) or that are even adopting out ferrets. I really don't understand why no one will adopt to me, maybe some of the rescues people can explain it to me??

I asked why and one woman said due to having young children, snakes and previous ferret care I am not likely to be able to handle a animal such ferrets. I told them I have done research as well as getting items needed before even bring them home (I made a list of everything I am buying or have bought) I also told them I have a 12k credit card just for pet emergency care. I been in contact with atleast 3 shelters in my area and only one woman was nice to me (she wasn't doing shelters any more) She recommended another woman she didn't know personally who ran a shelter I called her and she told me they only take in ferrets not adopt out but she was willing to take a donation in the amount of 50, 100, 150 and so on. I really don't want to buy at the pet store but it keeps looking like my only option (my husband rather get from pet store after the way I was treated by some people)

I'm a little concerned about the person that takes in ferrets but doesn't adopt out. sounds like a hoarder and I'd be worried about the ferrets in her care.
I do go to El Paso every now and then and have taken ferrets there in the past for adoption. But that's still a good way from Phoenix.

Yeah lol. My husband doesn't want to leave our general area to get them. I will keep looking and try calling shelters from the link you gave me. The woman who wanted money but not adopt out was a link I found on crags list. I wont deal with her after she got mad at the fact I wouldn't donate to her. I have 1 to 2 months before I will be ready just trying to get everything in order (I am the kinda person who has lists for everything and plan way in advance) Thanks Connie for the help!!

I'd try and find this woman that doesn't adopt out and maybe call animal control to see if they will pay her a visit. Or maybe call some of the ferret shelters and see if they know who she is.

I have a Marshall ferret, Aariez, that I have posted about here before. Unfortunately, we need to find her a new home. We are not going to be home enough to give her the attention she needs. I just got a night job and my BF has a job that has odd hours. We have also learned that she does not like cats . . . at all. I took her in so that she would not end up in a shelter or a bad home, but I am just not a ferret person. I don't have papers on her or anything and right now we can't even afford to buy her treats. She is really sweet and all, but we can't afford to keep her anymore, so I do need to ask for an adoption fee. She has a cage and particular habits that I can explain if you are still interested in a ferret that needs a home. I am not too keen on CraigsList postings and I want to make sure that she goes to someone that will love and care for her the way that we have. I am local, I live out by Luke Air Force Base and please feel free to email me at azfury@gmail.com.

I sent you a E-mail about Aariez. I am not sure if I can take her since we just got 2 baby boys fuzzys. But I will see if I can talk hubby into 1 more since he stole my Spaz from me.
