Got a call last night from a lady that paid $70 for a ferret advertised on Craigslist. She's had it for about 2 weeks. She was told the ferret was about 2 years old. When she bought it, it's hair was kind of thin, but the seller told her it was due to 'summer shedding' Now there are bald patches, and she has no clue why. The lady lives in my area of town, so I go take a look. The ferret is more like 5-6 years old, and adrenal. I ask her why she didn't look into adopting. Same old story. She knows about the shelter, but didn't want to go through the trouble of filling out an application. I give her my vet's information so she can take it in and get it's shots and find out if it's a candidate for surgery.

I just found a Craigslist Ad here in Colorado Springs that is also very sad: ferrets needing adoption

we are in the middle of being evicted and have no where to go, we need to find good homes for our furrykids. We have four ferrets, 3 boys and one girl. All fixed and descented.
There is a $40 adoption fee for each ferret to ensure they go to good homes and you must promise to keep them on the same diet they have been on because it is the best for them.
We have one white boy, one white girl, one silver mitt boy and a sable boy. They are all very sweet and have wonderful personalities and it kills me to have to do this but I need to make sure they go to a good home.
Please contact us as soon as possible its happening this weekend and we need to find them good homes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its just a shame that not only will the ferrets be out of a home, but the People as well. We have no room here to take in "guests", but maybe I should ask if they would like us to Foster the ferrets. What do you all think?

i hate to be so untrusting, but people post lies all the time. I'd be very careful about seperating ferrets that are bonded. I've seen ferrets die for no other reason than that they lost their cage mate. They should at least adopt them out in pairs.

That is sad and I do agree with Connie. People sometimes lie just to make you feel like you need to help them out.
