just read the thread. Way to go Connie and rescuing this girl. High five to you and Roy for giving them something to think about on the way home.
Has this girl been to your vet let for a check up?

I cannot BELIEVE how people can be! WTG Roy! I hope you drew blood! I really dislike people who neglect & abuise animals & I dislike bratty kids! Good for you, Connie! I wouldn't have been nice either. I would have handed the bag of crappy food back to her & say I wouldn't feed any animal this crap. GRRRR...some people (& their kids...)

When we picked up Gadget, the kids there were not at all interested in her leaving, nor did they even care to say goodbye. I was offered the box of Cheerios they had been feeding her but declined. I thought it strange that they wanted to keep the cage, but I didn't argue. (Looking back on it, I know why, and I wish I had insisted on the cage. They KNEW Gadget was sick, and didn't want to be bothered with all that entails.) I just hope that cage got sold and is not housing another little suffering, neglected fuzzy. We had Gadget only 5 months before she went over the bridge. It was heartbreaking and expensive, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Poor little Diamond. It's a wonder she can even eat with those lumps.

Wow those tumors are quite large. The poor thing she must have been miserable with that family. They obviously dont care about her well being at all. I seriously hope she does not get another ferret in the future.

Mean People Just Totally Suck, and as far as I'm concerned she was mean and should be put in jail for neglect and cruelty....and she probably shouldn't even have children! Okay... I feel better now! Diamond, LOTS of Hugs and Kisses to you!

Is it horrible of me to wish those giant tumors on that evil woman who neglected that poor fuzzie?

I just found this thread and wanted to check in to see how Diamond is doing? It's quite a relief to know she is in loving hands now.

She is doing fine. She's actually put on some weight and is eating well. She gets homemade soup twice a day and loves the Natural Gold/Evo Red Bites mix.

I'm glad Diamond will at least have a chance to know your love and care. And Bob's. One of my friend's ferrets has lymphoma as well. Some idiot dumped the ferret at his pet store. Left him in a cardboard box on the front porch. His tumor looked like hers- they removed it successfully. The vet says he'll get others. My friend decided no more surgeries but the little boy will live the rest of his days as loved and as comfortable as my friend can make him. People may suck. But, there are so many good people willing to help these little critters as well. HOORAY! for rescues! HOORAY for loving owners!

They are tumors, and she has them all over her body, not just under her neck.

That's so sad. It's a shame someone could let the animal go like that. And then to ditch their fert in time of need? Terrible... Everyone operates around the dollar bill these days, huh?

OKKKKKKKKK. This lady, hmmm Kileen isn't that far from me. You know we just lost our Kallie, and believe me if Kelley were to read this thread he would so go off. I am frustrated to the point of can't express my true words for this woman, as I feel it might cause a few of us to close our eyes and cover our ears. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Oh yeah Connie, I need to get with you as I would like to get some handbooks and brochures from you to put in the Shoppe. I just bought a sandwich shoppe(owner is financing, yeah us) and would love to get your name out there and maybe even see if we can get some donations going your way as well as FN's way ( I need the same from you FN, if you have any ferts that are in need of operations or meds or anything), please send pics of the ferts that need sponsorship. I can't do much but I will help as much as possible.

Picked up the lymphoma girl , Diamond, on my way home from Dallas. I had to do everything I could not to slap this, this, well, whatever she is. She was 20min late meeting me, so I had the back of my jeep open so the ferrets (several of the Rainbow girls from Millie's plus my Roy and Rider) could get some air. She drives up with I think 4 bratty kids in the back seat of a small truck. She hands me this pretty dark sable girl. Back molars are rotten, and you can not only feel, but SEE two huge tumors, one on each side of her neck. I put her in the carrier, and she signs the surrender form. Kids ask how much it is to 'buy' the ferrets in they see, and I said they aren't for sale. Woman tries to tell me how she was ripped off by the person she got the ferret from two years ago. Meanwhile the kids are trying to stick their fingers in the cages, and I tell them to stop since the girls are still a bit nippy. Some have just been spayed and are still hormonal. This woman tries to go on and on about how it's really best for the ferret to find a new home, and I told her (again) that it won't find a home. I hear the crap about how busy she is, blah blah. She also forgot to bring me the meds the ferret is on, and doesn't know the name of it. Great. I told her do me and the rest of the animal rescues a favor - don't ever get another pet ever again. I was a total bitch to her. This part is great - I was closing the back end of the car, opened the passenger door to put the crappy Walmart food she brought into the back seat. One of her brats sticks his fingers in Roy's cage, and Roy nailed him good. I didn't even ask if the kid was ok. I said 'told you not to stick your fingers in there", slammed the door, got in and drove off while the mom was checking out the kid's finger. Quoting the whole thing since it was super awesome. I almost cheered when I read the "do the rescues of favor and don't ever get another pet again" part. That woman is a terrible human being and she deserved much worse than what she got. And those kids sticking their fingers in the cage, poor Diamond probably had to deal with that her whole life! Good to know she's in good, loving hands now. Those tumors look right nasty, but hopefully she can beat 'em.

But isn't it good to know she passed loved and safe with sheltermom? Carolyn

What a HORRID woman. She probley forgot the meds and the name because she never got them for the poor little fuzzie . Iam glad that Roy nailed one of the kids . They had barely handed off one before the little monsters wanted another.Glad to hear that Diamond is now in a safe and loving home.

It really is sad to hear about people that do this... just toss away their animals because they are old and/or sick. the fact that that woman and her kids probably went and got another pet right away is even more frightening. the only thing good that came out of this.... that the fuzzie spent her last days with a truely caring person.
