Saplantlady's freekibble.com post in the daily grind section inspired me to ask the question.. besides money, what else can me and my more-fortunate fuzzies do to help less-fortunate fuzzies of all kinds?
I thought maybe if people posted what they do, or plan to do, others might see ideas or programs they hadnt thought of / known of before. (Obviously rescuers would not have to list everything they do, because theres only so much space lol. But maybe they would be inspired and come up with a new idea too.)
Ideas anyone?

Every year around Christmas there is a ferret giving tree. Every year, I have to try to figure out where I found it the year before, but there are hundereds of ferrets on there...most are in shelters. I'll try to remember to post the info here this year when it's available. Last year I sent a box to a ferret in a New Mexico shelter. It's so rewarding to be able to help at Christmas and through out the year.

volunteer, if there's a shelter around you, I don't have a ferret rescue close by but I do help other rescues and once a blue moon they get a small animal like a ferret or guinea pig. At work, we once got a ferret at the ICU and I was able to help out with feeding..
educate the community, it might seem far fetch but the more your community knows how to properly care for ferrets and their basic needs the better. If I overhear someone saying something off at a pet store or asking a question to answer I try to help out, with my student organization I help out with education presentation at schools and we usually bring a ferret and talk about proper care for them. You can also write articles or just be active in online communities like this one.
I've met quite a few people out there that didn't know ferret rescues and shelters existed, and they took consideration of getting one from shelter/rescue where before they wouldn't have. I also just spread the word out of the rescues I work with. When I lived in El Paso I worked with the Humane society alot and knew most of the animals personalities, and could help the potential families find the right cat/dog with the personality they were looking for since I knew the animals better and spent time with them.
Can't wait to see others ideas and what they do.
