I have a sweet female ferret that I adopted a 5 wks ago. I just love her and think she would enjoy having a buddy since she came from a rescue (SJSAR) that had 8 other ferrets and they all hung out together. I am familiar with ferrets as I had a male that I found in our backyard over a yr. ago, sadly he had insulinoma. He was on pred. but eventually the cancer spread to his spleen and he could not walk and also had cardiac issues. I had him 1 yr. I surely miss him and decided since the greatest tribute you can give a pet that you have lost, is to adopt another one, I did just that and now have Skittles. I am looking for a healthy young male, friendly non biter, no white or albinos. I like ferrets of color! Adoption fee ok. I have a large 3 level cage. Free time outside of cage is minimum 2 hrs am and 2 hrs pm. I work in my home grooming dogs, the cage is in my grooming room. I have great vet references, both from our local vet and my ferret vet in Cherry Hill, NJ. I do not want to buy from pet stores, which is why I am looking to adopt. There are so many ferrets out there that are unwanted or do not get the attention they deserve. This is a forever home. I live in southern NJ, near Ocean City. Feel free to contact me with any questions, my name is Leah.

I think Father Nature's Ferret Rescue is in New Jersey, though not familiar with the state, so I have no idea how far that would be from you. His name is Keith, goes by Father Nature on here. If you go into the messages option at the top of the forum, you can click on anyone's name and have the ability to send him a private message to contact him with your interest. I have never adopted from him myself, but he has helped me on occasion with questions about my ferrets and he seems to have oodles of experience and that he treats all of his ferrets wonderfully.
Just a suggestion. Good luck!
Carolyn

Thanks, I have checked out his site and saw how dedicated he is to his fuzzies, I even sent him a donation in memory of my Roscoe. I do have a lead on 3 boys from a rescue and am waiting to hear back from her. It may take a month or 2, but I know there is a little guy out there who needs a home and fuzzy sister!

interesting.... Leah has a fuzzie named Skittles and Father Natures once had a ferret named Skittles.... it might be a sign.
good luck in your search for a playmate for Skittles... there sure are a lot of fuzzies out there that are looking for a forever home.

If you choose not to adopt from FN, try Craigslist. There are tons of ferrets that are homeless in Jersey and Philly. Just watch and make sure you quaranteen/vet check. I never take what the past owner says to heart about their ferret's past.

I adopted a boy! I drove 2 hrs. to adopt a 11 mo. old blaze, he is healthy and not deaf. He is bonding well with my little girl. We named him Diesel as he is so high octane! I was impressed with the rescue woman, she is quite knowledgable. It's so nice to have a pair!
