A neighbor came to me a week ago and said she heard a kitten crying in the woods behind her house and she said it had been there for 2 days. My son and I went and looked and found it. It was approx. 3 weeks old and one eye was matted shut due to infection in it and the other was sticking out of the socket. It was very gross and sad. I took him home and set up a sick cage for him. He went to the rescue vet on Monday and it was determined that the eye had gotten punctured somehow, and needed to be remomoved. I wanted to take before pics, but they would have been so graphic, I just couldn't. The kitten is purring, playing, and really has no idea he was so sick. His other eye is doing well and with his antibiotics is getting much better by the day. His surgery cost the rescue several hundred dollars, and any donation toward that would be greatly appreciated! You can send moneys for his bill directly to Chadwell Animal Hospital or to the rescue paypal account at barnyardtravellers@hotmail.com . Any questions you may have let me know at dbickling@verizon.net . Here is a link to a youtube video 2 days after his surgery. You can see how good the eye area looks after the surgery. Aww he is adorable! Can I have him? Hehe. I'm glad he is doing so well. There are so many poor little kittens out there that get lost in the woods and die of starvation, etc. My cousin lives in a woody area and her little dog was going crazy over something in the woods. She has strong maternal instincts when it comes to kittens. We went to see what it was and there was this young cat stuck in the fork of a little tree and his leg was tangled in vines. If he had jumped he probably would have hung there til he died, and we know his leg would have been broken. There was three of us and I had to climb the little flemsy tree. I got clawed up REALLY badly because he was scared, and I got about 30 thorns stuck in me, but thats okay. She'd been looking for a cat and would have kept him but he had a collar and she knew he belonged to a neighbor. Are you keeping him?? Please keep us updated. I want to see him as he grows. -~Ketlin
