One of our Texas shelters, Tricks or Treats in Pasedena, outside of Houston, is in need. She was able to evacuate, and the ferrets are safe at a foster home. However, Vicky, the shelter director, lost just about everthing. From what I understand, there was major flood damage to her home.
That entire Houston area is a mess, and they are running out of supplies. So I'm making a trip this weeekend with some food, bedding, litter, water bottles, food dishes, etc. for the ferrets, and some dog food for Vicky's dogs. Communication with Vicky has been spotty since she is still without power. The foster home does have power as of today.
Gas may be an issue, but we're taking my husbands big Dodge Diesel truck. It has an extra 75 gal. fuel tank in the bed, so we won't have to worry about finding fuel.

Oh wow, that's terrible. I'm glad you're able to help her out Connie in this time of need.

Connie, I hope you have a safe trip and I'm glad you were able to help. I have family outside of Houston and like you said it's been a real mess.

I am a little late reading this thread, but let me know if there is anything I can do to help out. Being in the Houston area, I have no problem going out if there is need. I can lend my spare cage or what not.
While I disagree with one of their adoption criteria, I would never let that impact my willingness to help out the fuzzys. Just let me know.
