I was contacted by a gentleman from near by the rescue that due to health department order and his reoccurring terminal cancer he must re home his 24 ferrets. Yup thats right 24. As many of our TLH family know, we got the loan to enlarge the rescue and construction is under way with a 3 to 4 week time frame so we are unable to take them in yet. ALL the fuzzies are 2 years or younger with paperwork to attest. We are looking for ANYONE of our TLH family within a reasonable driving range looking to add to their fuzzies to contact us. ALL 24 were in one 2 story Super pet cage with the tubes on top. I am contacting the judge on Wed to get a stay and will be brining all of them to my vet for nails, ears, baths, shots, ADV test and check ups. I am bringing several cages to house them if the judge allows and have out them in 2 large playpens foir the mean time. All are urine and fecal covered and I read this man the riot act. I took his picture which will be distributed to all the ferret carrying pet shops in the area. All the fuzzies so far have been handleable and sweet, just craving attention and love. If you are out of state we can maybe work out a train. There will be NO adoption fee for TLH members. I will post the pictures tomorrow with the results of the court hearing. Keith

thats horrible how they had to live all cramped up like that. but i am glad they are now out of that situation and on their way to better lives. (i just might have to stop by in the next few days...... ) if you need an extra pair of hands, let me know. i bet Evelyn pretty worn down from everything going on.

How sad for all of the poor ferrets. I hope you get everything that you ask for during the court hearing.

How sad!!!! What was he thinking 24 ferrets in one cage and a small one at that! I hope the judge allows all that you are asking! Good thoughts and hopefully some good homes coming these sweet babies way!!!

Thats insane... Have 24 ferrets if you can take care of them, but dont stuff them all into one tiny little cage. I really hope you can get this sorted out and everyone finds a place to stay.
BTW- congrats on getting the loan! I was starting to think that with the way everything is going that you might have a little work getting one..

Can members cross post this or your information on thier other forums? Good Question Jesi. I just spoke to Keith. He DID get a "stay" from the courts and is in the process of getting the fuzzies taken care of (cleaning, vet checks and shots, etc...). I'm working on getting out of here (I'm at work) and up there to help him. I'll mention it to him. Thanks!!! Matt K.

I have over 70, but can't say no to something like this. I'm 20 minutes south of York,PA and will take 2 if necessary. If they are truly under 2 years of age, they will be placeable. If it ends up there are any old ones, I have a soft spot for those. I just lost a very special Panda, silver mitt male. I would love another one like that. He was deaf, but that's not important. Please let me know if I can help.

Also, my good friend is doing her research and looking to adopt a single, but she can probably handle a pair.

Wow... if I was in a situation to take one I certainly would. Please let us know if it's okay to cross post it and I'll spread the word on my deviant art journal. (I have a lot of ferret lovers subscribed to mine who like my fuzzy pictures I post there.)

Just got in from court. Things will have to move quickly to rehome these fuzzies. All but 2 look in fine health. 1 adrenal we are taking (even with no room) and one cordoma, mid tail. All have been handled, bathed, most shots (will finish Sunday). I am afraid once the owner sees the condition of the house he will evict the guys, and with just cause. I am hoping for at least 4 weeks but not sure we will get it so please feel free to cross post and give fnferretrescue@cs.com for the contact info. There is NO adoption fee, this is an emergency rescue. Candidates must still meet same standards. Legit rescues we can posibly work out a pony express if you have room. Thanks to everyone Keith

Father Nature- I have room for another, we were going to wait for a bit but this is a dire situation. My only question is being in Upstate NY, how to get the fuzzy to me. I am of course willing to travel, but my five year old wont do well on a very long car ride. I have numerous references, Nicole has met me in person a few times and I adopted Silas from PetCo. I also do German Shepherd Rescue. Do you have pictures of them?

Make one stop at the PA border and youre good to go. Its almost a straight shot down there actually on 81S..

Thats not too bad at all then. I dont think my daughter could handle it though... would it help if I sent a donation? She gets car sick when we go to Rochester sometimes, she gets very sweaty and uptight and then tells me she feels sick in her belly.

I have got 12 placed and still need to transport them on Monday. ANYONE that is willing to trvel to our rescue will go through the normal interview. There will be no fees or donation request, just a loving FOREVER home is required. Donations will not be refused of course but this is a true, sure fire rescue. ALL we care about is the fuzzies. I cashed in some bonds early to cover some expenses and the caregiver is also giving what he can. He is on the verge of eviction so his help is limited. He just got the report yesterday on the phone right in front of me, that his cancer is back. I am trying to convince him to go to live with his sister and get out of the pig stye he is living in. The ferrets were allowed to free roam for quite some time and caused a lot of the damage. The place is being exterminated this Tuesday so I will remove the remaining fuzzies to my vets office till it's safe to return. ALL these fuzzies have proof of purchase from 2 stores within the last 2 years so none are older then 2.5 to 3 years old. 2 look adrenal and we are taking them so we can raise the funds for their surgery. Anyone really interested in adopting can call me at 201-438-8677. Leave a detailed message if there is no answer. We still have another fuzzy due in tomorrow with a broken jaw to deal with so we are in and out all the time. Leave a message and I will get back to you. Anyone wishing to donate can go to www.fathernaturesferretrescue.com and go to the rescue donations page. Keith

Yes it is a rather long trip. I had even considered it myself, but my husband it is just too far to drive with gas and such right now. Can I make a friendly suggestion? Don't buy....adopt. So many are in shelters that need a good home. I wish we could make these stores quit selling these little guys....is there a shelter near you that you could adopt from? I will NEVER buy again...only adoption. Carolyn

a good place to look, that will list places around your zip code is Petfinder.com
that is where i found my first little lady fizzle. I saw her on Petfinder in the morning while i was at work and i was at the animal shelter to adopt her at 3:45 that same day.
after seeing some of these rescue sites and visiting Father Nature's and talking to others... i dont think i could ever buy from a store.... there are just so many fuzzies out there that need adopting and the rescues and shelters are over crowded with some beautiful funny ferrets that for the most part are already litter trained and have all their shots.... so why not right?
