Someone in Waco, about 120 miles north of me, found her on her front porch, Very skinny with bald patches. I thought probably adrenal.
So I drive up there to get her, and she's a young DEW, less than a year old. Bald patches are from abrasions that are scabbed over and healing. The lady told me some of her neighbors said they saw someone throw the ferret out of the second floor window of one of the houses a few days before.
She has already eaten an entire large crock of food in 24 hours. One of her canines is broken and discolored, so I'm not sure if she'll lose it or not. Very sweet little girl, and no tattoos.

that is just horrible what happened to her. That is a long trip for you to take but well worth it if it means saving a fuzzie. I will be sending lots of thoughts her way. its nice to hear that she is young though, i hate to hear when a ferret has spent years going through abuse or whatnot.

Oh that makes me soooo angry...what purpose does it serve to hurt an animal like that? Oh geez, if only I were a hitman (woman) for hire.... So glad she is in your loving care. Hopefully now she has a fighting chance. Carolyn

Everyday I'm more and more amazed at how thoughtless and cruel some humans can be. The big debate around here lately has been whether a woman should be fined up to $8,000 for abandoning 3 small animals in the woods because her daughter decided she didn't want them anymore. Upon reading some of the responses on our newspaper's web site I just scratch my head. These were pets - they weren't raised in the wild - how can you return them to the wild? I don't think she'll get fined the full $8000 but I wish she would - and that money should go to local animal shelters!

I am surprised that they made a big deal over gerbils and hamsters (usually small animals like these are not taken seriously), but i am so glad they did!!! the laws regarding animal neglect/abuse/abandonment should need to be upheld to the fullest punishments possible i say. and make it public! if its in the news more often, maybe people would think twice before harming their pets.
