Hello All...
I have been a bit quiet here as of late. Many things taking place for me outside of taking care of my family, my work and the ferrets. Without my family, and my work-I could not keep the sanctuary running.
So-thanks to my boys !
But, in the grande scheme-running a sanctuary is kind of like running an old age home, and a hospice in one. One little guy comes in, and one little guy fades away-into the next world. Each one that goes is missed, and it is never pleasant, but I keep my head up-and I understand the cycle of life and unfortunately-life's end.
Today, I am facing the end of life with an old boy who came into the sanctuary last summer with his brother, and just completely stole our hearts. He is in no pain for now-but each day that goes by takes more of his life away. For a 9 or 10 year old ferret, it is time to begin the journey again.
Yeah, it does suck (for me), but he's had nothing but a good time here. In most cases, many people would ask for prayers for his health to be restored.
I know that all the prayers in the world cannot turn back the hands of time. He will never be young again-nor will his health ever be the same as if he were a young ferret again. Yet, I am OK with this. And of course, I will miss this old chap, but I am better off for having known him. We had La Vita Bella !
He loved playing and hanging with his brother Jackie. He loved dancing on the pillows and stealing our socks !
So, instead of sadness for me, or for Willis - do me a favor-give someone you love a kiss, and celebrate LIFE ! It is too short to be sad and focus on sadness.
Life is beautiful, no matter how many curve balls it throws you.
Take your family (2 legged or 4 legged) and tell them how much you LOVE them !
When the universe is ready for him, Willis will begin his new journey, and La Vita Bella will begin for him once again !
And, so it goes...
Rose
