Good Luck with your search. You should be contacting your local shelter as you may not find someone as soon as you need to meet them (thats a holiday week end)

if I need to be I can take her to georgia til I can find a home for her.. but she can't stay with me.. she would be staying with my roommates gf or a friend and wouldnt get the attention she needs.. i think the holiday is the weekend after next I don't want her to go to a shelter and be put down it's bad enough that i won't be able to keep her

Most, if not all, ferret shelters are no kill.. I've never heard of one putting a ferret down unless it was so unhealthy or sickly that it was the only option for it. I don't know how close you are to it, but there is the Greater Chicago Ferret Assoc. You could give them a call and see if there's anything they can do to help you out. www.gcfa.com/Home.html
