Hey, all! Craigslist has three ferrets in Mohnton (Reading) that are free with cage and supplies. If anyone is interested in some ferret math, I can help out. Let me know! reading.craigslist.org/pet/1021862753.html

No go on the Math. Hubby was in a meeting so he just got back to me. He is my voice of reason. We do totally have enough at this point (not that a few more would hurt!), and the vet bills could be going up with our older dog and cat. I'll decline at this point with a prayer that they go to someone who will care for them in the right way.

The post now says "adoption pending" so that is a good sign. Hope they find a great home!

Ok...My FNFR conscience is kicking in right now. How far are these babies from NJ?
I already have 5 but what's three more? I certainly wouldn't want them to be split up.
Let me know. Thanks!!

Oh man...I just checked mapquest and this location is 2 hrs and 25 minutes away from me. I had 2 back surgeries and fusion in my neck so sitting in the car that long is a killer for me. So....if anyone can work out something with me to perhaps meet me 1/2 way or something; I would be willing to do that. Let me know. Thanks!!

I don't think you guys should bother. I kept refreshing the ad until my husband called. I also emailed the people asking sex and when their last vet visit was. I have still gotten no reply and found this listing: comm-1022511507@craigslist.org I think it may be a scam.

I saw them tonight on Craigslist too and sent them all e-mails. Didn't get responses yet but I do think it is a scam. I had saw on Craigslist awhile ago too that a ferret was being given away free with cage. I inquired about it but to no avail. I would be a little cautious. I left them my phone number too. Will keep everyone posted if i get any kind of response.

Probably was a scam. If anyone ever hears of a ferret needing rescue in the Reading area and wants it, then contact me though. I'll pick the ferret up and meet you halfway, if you are in the NY, PA, NJ, DE MD, DC areas. I could even arrange a trip to VA if need be. I love to help out, and get ferrets out of bad situations... So don't be afraid to ask. I used to pick up unwanted free animals for a while, but no one seems to want them, and they become my pets. lol ex. Ava (although I never tried to give her away) hehe A sidenote: I helped pick out a kit and an adult female for my cousin for his birthday last birthday (he's like, 20 and wanted ferrets big time.) Anyway, The adult has a bit of a biting problem in that she's not mean, but she likes the texture or veins in human arms... and that's the only place she bites... and even draws blood. I know I talked to my uncle and cousin and they weren't sure if they will keep her forever- they've had her almost a year now. I've done some convincing, but I have this feeling that someday they'll get rid of her. Someone told them that once ferrets taste blood they crave it, and I can't convince them otherwise. If anyone wants her if they do decide to give her up, let me know. She is a siamese sable approximately 3-4 years, a perfect pooer and good with other ferrets. I don't know for sure, but I"m concerned, so I'd like to have ideas as to what to do for the future...

Did you see that that other post was removed. I looked and it was there about 8am and gone around 930. I will also help if you need to hand off transport. I have the luxury of only working every other weekend with some fill in days here and there. Just let me know.

Sure. Thanks for the volunteering! I didn't notice it was removed, but who knows what the deal is. I used to advertise on CL that I take in ferrets, and get emails from time to time, usually for 3-5 ferrets that need a home, or a lot of people looking for ferrets. When I tell them I don't currently have any, and that they can check out ARL and Berks County Humane Society, they never reply back. I mean , c'mon everyone must want a handout. ARL's ferrets are $25... It doesn't get much cheaper than that in the ferret world...

I go there all the time. That's where Dude came from. Pam from the kennel stayed with Bridgett and I when it was time to put her down. They just don't have a foster program. If they did.... I'd probably be divorced or living in the camper!

hehe They're nice people, that's for sure. I volunteer there sometimes, walking dogs, playing with their ferrets (when they have them). I like that they do everything they can before having to put an animal down. They work really hard to increase the turn around too, which is nice. There are always a bazillion pit bulls there, but they are usually adopted within I dunno... 3 mos. Which is nice.

I also tried to contact this person by email but nothing. I would have taken them to add to my family of fuzzies.
Additionally, I will be fostering for FNFR. However, due to space, I will bring the babies in as a last option. The rescuing will just be on a smaller scale for awhile, but we will not let a fuzzie suffer in any way, shape, or form. Keith and Evelyn's goal is the move forward and continue saving the fuzzies. They have several other rescues fostering for them. FNFR will stand by their motto; No Fuzzy Left Behind . So if a fuzzie ends up without a home; we will take it in under FNFR. So....keep me posted regarding the "unwanted" fuzzies and I will do what I can to help. However, I will be taking you up on your offer with transporting the babies; we can meet half way.
Thanks so much guys!!

They are asking $300 now. Here's what they sent me.
Info on ferrets: This post is for my neighbor. He has too many animals. They are 1-2 years old. One was gotten from New York from a breeder. and the other two from the petstore. they could be seperated. two were together and one was apart. so they could be given away that way. he hasn't to my knowledge had them to the vet. he has a three tier cage attached to an extra large one floor cage. plus the tubes he made that attach to the cages that you can make runs anywhich way you want. he had them across the ceiling to the different cages. and the dishes and accessories and stuff. he wanted $300.00 for everything but like I said he's probably piece them out. So let me know what you'd like to pay for them and we'll go from there. Thanks Hollie
