Hey Guys,
Keith (Father Nature) asked me to start this thread. He's at work (dayjob) and wanted everyone to know that he'll update ASAP (today) on Lil' Dude's progress. I'll tell you this... he's doing WAY better than in that petshop!!! Mother Nature (Evelyn) has him under her wing, when she can keep him there!!! So keep an eye on this thread to follow his story. Thanks Everyone!!!
Matt

Father Nature Here. Little Dude is one of the sweetest boys to ever come to our rescue and even after his poking and proding the other night, he still loves us, and he shows it by a look that can melt your soul. He wants so very bad to just be a kit but his body wont let him. He loves to watch the other fuzzies at the rescue through the glass partition and we are trying to see if he will make friends with Princess. She is the little fuzzy that was stomped on by her guardians 4 year old and never taken to the vet. Little Dude is poohing in his bedding as he sleeps and we keep the baby wipes close by to keep his little booty clean. He is not very crazy about that (I think he would rather scoot his but if he could) but it needs to be done. The prolapse is looking much better this morning and trying to keep that area clean and dry is a labor of love that Mother Nature has taken on. We are going to try and set Little Dude up with his own page on our web sight for updates and donations but till then you can go to www.fathernaturesferretrescue.com and choose Tessas Tales on the left column. This will bring you to Little Dudes picture and donation button. I will keep everyone updated on his progress and the intended course of treatment as we hear from our Vet through TLH and our sight. Again your donations are a great help and I think this little man has more guardians then any other fuzzy in the woirld. Thank You, Keith-AKA Father Nature

07/08/07 Little Dude awoke this morning with a yawn and a big stretch. We keep his cage close by so as to monitor the cleanliness of his bedding and his little tushy. He seems to realize after he potties and relocates to a clean area to continue his snooze. His mobility today was better. His brain says jump and play but his back legs say not yet. He does have short bursts of coordination but then the legs just go out from under him. Keep your fingers crossed that the blood work comes back OK and we will keep updating on his condition.

Thats so wonderful to hear that he at least has short bursts of coordination. It's a good sign his brain still is functioning, even if his legs don't get the signal to work.

07/10/07 Keith (FN) has been BUSY yesterday and has a full plate today, so I'm updating w/ some "possibly encouraging" news.
Little Dude is such a Trooper!!! He IS very determined!!! First off... Today was the 2nd mourning that he DIDN'T soil his bedding. He seems to be "somewhat" aware that something is going on down there, and is getting out of bed and getting away from it to "take care of biz". OK, it's not in the litterbox, BUT at least it's NOT his bed!!! It is also a possible sign of "some" feeling down there, or MAYBE regaining feeling!!! Let's all hope and keep fingers crossed. Next... He is NOT a bumbed out fert!!! He definitely gets around to do ferret things!!! Yesterday he was caught stealing something and tried to stash it, until Mom Nature "busted" him. IMO, THAT is cool, because it tells me that Little Dude IS truely a "whole" ferret, regardless of his current issues. So that's it for now. I'm sure Keith will chime in ASAP.
Later, Matt K. (I think I'm now "Uncle" Nature)

Its awsome to hear that hes doing so well! I love all the progress hes making, specially that hes getting out of bed to try and do his buisness. Itll be no time at all, hopefully, till he can get out and have small play times with the other ferts.

Just a quik medical update. The FULL blood work should be back by friday and I will let all know how it turns out. Our vet called me today to say that he saw another 10 week old Marshal Ferret showing almost the same injuries. Please pass the word to any shelters/ rescues/ pet shop employees to keep an eye out to see if we have a trend. Keith (FN)

My dad has been keeping dibs on Little Dude and says he wouldnt be surprised if the people who transport the little kits accidently dropped one when loading them into the trucks or whatever. He says thats his guess if the pet store says that he showed up like that.
crossing fingers for friday's news!

Little Dude wants to play so bad it is heart breaking. He has NO FEAR and it's scarey. I had him on the couch last night holding him on my chest(its our little private time every night) and he attempted to launch off on to the floor. I have seen when he gets fired up so I new it was comming and stopped the count down. He is the sweetest work of art when he lays on his back in the crook of my arm and cleans his face with those tiny little paws and then will reach up with his wet foot to wipe my face. Please keep the prayers and good vibes rolling in...

what if you let him try a small test run playtime? pick out the sweetest most gentle fert you have and see how he does trying to play one on one with supervision? Hes probly got so much energy stored up just from seeing the other play and romp

The problem is not the other ferrets, it Little Dude. We have tried it with the biggest pushover we have, named Monty. He is the definition of a Gamma male. Little Dude gets so wound up we are afraid of him injuring himself further and the Vet thinks we should try to keep him quiet. All in time...

Good Morning. Little Dude had a fairly uneventful day at home with The Natures. Mother Nature has been battling with a severely neglected little fuzzy named Chi Chi. Chi Chi is so scared of everything that even when she walks past Little Dudes cage she hisses at him. She is a definite biter and caught me by surprise with a chomp to the finger yesterday. Little Dude just watches her with his head tilted wondering what she is doing with her mouth open like that. He even started to show his teeth back even though he can't hear her. I think, he thinks it's a game. We picked up 3 neglected fuzzies last week one of which is Chi Chi and a little girl named Nena that needs adrenal surgery as soon as possible. The other little fella is called Frasier and he is so skinny but is eating, so he should rebound soon. Little Dude knows that he is one special fuzzbut here at the rescue and is starting to act like the boss, letting Mother Nature know when he wants something by squeeking till she comes to him. Makes you wonder just how they know to make noise when they can't hear themselves. He is getting "scarey smart". Will keep the updates comming, have a great fuzzy day...Father Nature

Bless his little heart. He wants to be ferrety so badly. Hopefully, soon he can get down and play to his heart's content. Maybe he can reach Chi Chi and let her know that not everyone in this world is a bad person. Thank you for the updates and for being such caring people.

Quick Update... Little Dudes blood work was missplaced by Amtech. If we have to put Little Dude through this again heads will role. He is being a little weasel and just wants ALL our attention and is getting it. He is having a big night, as we are taking him to meet our Club members at Concerned Ferret Owners of New Jersey.
