Saw her for just a sec late last night. She came in played with the water bottle for about a minute then left.
Then I saw her this morning about 7:00am Colorado time, she was asleep. Laying on her back, in one of those positions only a ferret could love.
Haven't seen her since today....it must be really hot in there!

I decided to write to the Smithsonian Zoo to see what I could find out about the ferret. Here's a copy of the e-mail I received today Hi Janean, Thanks for your interest in the National Zoo's ferret cam. The ferret you're watching is named Georgia. When she was artificially inseminated earlier this year, her belly was shaved because the procedure is done surgically. She is due to give birth on about June 19. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if a black-footed ferret is pregnant. Ferrets are induced ovulators, which means they do not ovulate until they breed. When we artificially inseminate them, we give them a hormone injection the day before to induce ovulation. Ovulation usually results in a pregnancy or a pseudo (false) pregnancy. As with giant pandas, their hormone levels change as if they were pregnant, whether or not they are. Also, their appetite will increase, they will gain weight, and show other changes in behavior. In short, Georgia may not be pregnant. She may choose to leave the nest box or burrow down into the substrate, but if you're lucky and she’s pregnant, you may be able to watch her give birth. This information was just posted on our website. The National Zoo and its Conservation and Research Center are home to about 2,000 animals. Our resources are limited and we have a lot of priorities as we care for these animals and educate the public about our conservation efforts. We will post updates when they are available and as time allows. We encourage fans of our web cams to support our conservation efforts by joining Friends of the National Zoo or making a donation. Caring for and conserving animals costs a lot, as does the operation of our web cams. nationalzoo.si.edu/JoinFonz/Join/nationalzoo.si.edu/Support/MakeDonation/ Thanks for writing, Gaby Gollub Web Editor Friends of the National Zoo | Smithsonian's National Zoo nationalzoo.si.eduAs it says in this e-mail they updated the ferret cam site with this same information , so you can check it out there too. YEAH!

I think she might be having contractions!! Every few minutes her back and tail arch, she's been grooming like CRAZY! Mostly her back end.

She's been very restless/agitated yesterday and today ... a sign of an imminent arrival???

Maybe.. Because obviously she didn't have them last night. She was up all night Yesterday, Today she's sleeping alot though... At least from what I've seen. In a way she looks big and in a way she doesn't... Maybe it is a false pregnancy. Time will tell. But she was nesting a minute ago. I told my sister you'd think you'd be able to see babies kicking, like you can with pregnant mice and dogs but the babies are so small compared to the momma ferret I can understand why you wouldn't be able to.

I'm hoping it's not. I was watching a lot through the night ... had it on in the background and was up into early morning working on stuff...and you're right she was up a lot ... today she is sleeping a lot, but I'm hoping it's not a false pregnancy. You are right, only time will tell.

No Babies Yet....sigh!
I was kinda thinking she was restless today, sleeping alot but not sound. Saw her get up and go out a few times. If it is a false pregnancy, I wonder if they will try again this year?
Guess we get to wait and see.

She's sleeping in the nest right now. Usually at night she's not around. I wonder if that means anything. I'll be so disappointed if this is a false pregnancy.

Wow, If you read the info right above the ferret cam, it says two of the ferrets bred this year have given birth. one had 6 kits the other 4. YEAH!
Now if Georgia would just please share with us! It's 11:15 pm in Colorado and she is out of the nest. I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed.

I only see one kit, but yes. She "should" be carrying them by the head. They are soooo small she can't scruff it.

I think she's only had one.. She keeps licking and stuff though so it concerns me. If there are more she should have had them by now.
That baby is going to be a crazy booger when it grows up. Its already trying to run away from home, lol.
I did tell my sister that I think she wants the camera turned off!
