She gave birth? I''ve been checking up on her all day. Can someone explain how I missed the whole thing and still don't see any babies?

I've been told by a breeder it can take up to 24 hours to have all the babies. So maybe there's more? Maybe not. She is going to have her paws full if theres more! I can't believe how active that little baby is! It will be a total blast watching that little one grow! aaahhhh baby ferrets, gotta love 'em! She's going to be an awesome mom, hope she can get some rest soon!

I was a bit disappointed to see she was done at one, but one kit's better than "oh well, pseudo pregnancy!" He is really a handful to his momma. Keeps squiggling out when she curls around him, so she has to keep picking him up and bringing him back. Haven't seen him nurse yet, but I'm hoping I'll catch it soon!
I was so amazed yesterday watching him, just thinking, "this is his firsy day of life!"

I thought I saw a baby yesterday.Think she only had one. It's really hard to find him/her seeing as she's usually cuddled around him/her.

I bet that baby will become HUGE, only one momma had to feed. More milk for it = huge baby.
It grows so fast!

Wow, the more I find out about Georgia and this baby ferret, the more I appreciate the opportunity to be able to watch them. I mean really, ferrets sleep 22 hours a day, so who'd even think, to put a camara in ones nest so the world could..... watch her sleep. Amazing! Anyway, this was posted on another site, and I just thought I'd share....pretty awesome stuff! Here's an interesting post from the FML (ferret mailing list) from Linda Iroff of the IFC (International Ferret Congress..... Date: Fri, 20 Jun 2008 18:18:48 -0400 From: Linda Iroff <ferret@...> Subject: Georgia is the proud mom! Of one very active black-footed ferret kit, born about 10:30 am Friday, June 20. nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/NorthAmerica/default.cfm?cam=BFFI got the following information from Education Program Manager, Community Relations, National Zoological Park Conservation & Research Center: The story I heard on this was that this is a HUGE breakthrough in science and conservation. She was artificially inseminated with the sperm of a genetically valuable male ferret...sperm that was frozen 11 years ago and stored in liquid nitrogen until this year when the Species Survival Plan for ferrets recommended that these genes be taken out of cold storage and brought back into the living collection. The father has been deceased for many years. Linda International Ferret Congress www.ferretcongress.org

Lol, I caught her trying to get the baby to go to bed. He kept escaping her and she kept trying to curl up around him and get him to settle down.

OMG - that's so funny! Looks like the baby found the camera - and with his/her eyes closed!

Whenever the mom leaves the baby goes for the camera, and hides under it so you can't see him. I wonder if its warm and it attracts him? Can they hear that early? Maybe he's attracted to a noise by the camera?
